From family-friendly attractions and nature trails to historic sites and vibrant coastal nightlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy along Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast.
Fort Morgan State Historic Site
While the park itself is a serene spot for RV enthusiasts, the nearby Fort Morgan State Historic Site is a must-visit. This fort, active during the Civil War and other major conflicts, played a pivotal role in the Battle of Mobile Bay. Visitors can explore its historic structures and learn about its military significance.
Pristine Gulf Beaches
Fort Morgan RV Resort is conveniently located right on the bay and is a short drive, quick bike ride, or easy walk to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf of the Gulf Coast. From the park entrance, it’s approximately 2.2 miles total — about 1 mile to Mobile Street, then another 1.2 miles to the public beach access parking area.
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
Explore the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and see why it’s voted the #1 Zoo in Alabama! The inhabitants of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo are a richly diverse and decidedly unique population for a small-town community zoo. Every single animal has a name and a backstory.
Gulf State Park Pier
Perfect for fishing and wildlife spotting, the Gulf State Park Pier offers a great fishing experience for any angler, beginner or seasoned. A variety of species can be caught from the Pier depending on the time of year: Sheepshead, Red Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Florida Pompano, King Mackerel, Whiting, and more!
Blue Sky Parasailing & Watersports
The Gulf Shores area offers a variety of water-based activities that cater to all interests. For thrill-seekers, parasailing with Blue Sky Parasailing and Watersports provides breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico, and you might even spot dolphins from above! They also offer jet-ski rentals and exciting banana boat rides.
Pure Aloha Adventures
If you’re looking for a more serene experience, Pure Aloha Adventures
specializes in kayaking tours, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) lessons, and paddleboard yoga, making it perfect for families and beginners. If you just want to paddle on your own, we rent kayaks and paddle boards or you can bring your own and launch right from our dock.
Gulf Shores Boat and Paddlesports Rental
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, Gulf Shores Boat and Paddlesports Rental provides boat rentals, private cruises, and sunset or dinner cruises, allowing you to explore the waters at your own speed.
Beyond the Bay
Minutes away, discover The Wharf’s entertainment district.. This family-friendly entertainment district, shopping center, and marina features at 10,000-seat amphitheater, the Southeast’s tallest Ferris wheel, and the SPECTRA Laser Light Experience. It offers over 60 shops, restaurants, a movie theater, and year-round events.
Mobile Bay Ferry
The Mobile Bay Ferry is a scenic way to travel across Mobile Bay. The ferry service operates year-round, but offers more service during the summer. The ferry service is weather dependent, and schedules may change due to weather or maintenance issues. However, with some pre-planning it is a fun experience and easy way to get out on the water. Seasonal Events & Festivals
Gulf Shores has a variety of annual events and festivals. Plan your visit around signature events like May’s Hangout Music Festival or October’s National Shrimp Festival or the Hot Air Balloon Festival in May. The area comes alive year-round with local celebrations, art walks, and seafood festivals.
Public Boat Launch
The nearest public boat launch access is just a short drive down Fort Morgan Rd to the Pines Park Public Boat Launch. From the park entrance, it’s approximately 2.8 miles from our park. It has one ramp and four parking spots on the road. (There are no lights and no restrooms.) It launches into Bon Secour Bay.
